I cant get no sleep

Online writers group

A welcoming online writing space for caregivers and creatives. Find inspiration, accountability and time for your own practice!

We know how easy it can be for your own creative practice to slip to the very bottom of the priority list, especially when you are a caregiver.

So we are super excited to announce a new regular online space for writers (of all kinds!) and anyone who wants to carve out a little time for their creative self.

Each month, we’ll be joined by a different guest facilitator who will lead the first hour with a series of writing exercises and prompts. Then we’ll keep the virtual room open until late* for anyone who wants to stay, settle in and quietly work on their own projects in the company of others doing the same.

*Time is listed as being until 10pm- but we will go later if that's what the people want!

Our first session will be led by the brilliant Hope Dickson Leach, an award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter, Scottish BAFTA winner for The Levelling, and co-founder of Raising Films, the campaign for a more parent friendly film industry.

Hope’s work spans acclaimed short films, feature films and television, and she’ll be bringing her extensive experience as a writer and filmmaker to our first gathering.

Whether you’re a mother trying to find your way back to writing, a caregiver juggling a million things, you’re just looking for a little more structure and solidarity in your creative life, you’re very welcome.

You don’t need to be working towards a deadline, have a finished idea, or even know exactly what you want to write. Just bring yourself and whatever you’re working on - or come as a blank page and see what emerges from having a little space for yourself.

And as with all our events, participants are invited to join in whatever way is possible for them- if you’re still doing bedtime routines when we start, join us when you can. If you need to drop in and out, that’s totally fine.

Tickets are pay what you can. If you are in a position to contribute a higher amount, please consider doing so - it helps enable us to offer lower cost options too

If the ticket cost presents a barrier to you, please email hello@askmotherproductions.com
